Right now the closest thing is Apple's Soundtrack. It comes bundled with FCP4 or I think you can purchase it separately. It's pretty close to ACID, but I haven't really had time to mess around in it, so I can't give you a good review on it.

although i've sold and/or given away most of my macs. i keep an imac around just in case i need to run logic or digital performer.

if you have virtual pc, acid 2.0 with work on any G4 mac. the only other options are garageband, soundtrack and live.

soundtrack/garageband pretty much captures the essence of acid, but acid 4 is a much more complete app with the chopper, beatmapper, rewire, automation, and vsti support. live is just plain clunky in comparison to acid.

i feel that apple came about 3 years too late although i will say the inclusion of the logic effects was right on the money. i'm just waiting for acid 5 to be a rewire slave so i can mix using logic 5's mixer and effects.

i personally think every mac user should have a spare wintel box around just so you're not at apple's mercy. PCs are just too cheap these days. why pay $200 for soundtrack when you can get a 2ghz P4 cpu for $300 and buy the real deal...ACID 4.

when acid 5 comes out you'll wish you did.
