Subject:install on two computers?

i'm thinking about getting a laptop and wondering if i'd be able to install my Acid 4.0 and Sound Forge 7.0 on it, meaning the programs would be on both my desktop and laptop, or if i'd have to get separate copies of the programs to install them on my lapto.

i tried searching for an answer on this and saw that Sonic Foundry used to allow users to install programs on two machines, but couldn't use them on both machines at the same time. has Sony continued this?

As far as I know this has not changed. Sony/ Sonic Foundry has always been really good about this. You will need to rejester though.

From Sony's EULA:

"2. RESTRICTIONS ON USE. You may not: (a) use the Software on more than one computer at a time without purchasing additional licenses..."

That means you can install the software on more than one computer, but you can only be the sole user of the software; no one else can use the software at the same time.

As DKeenum mentioned, you may have to go through another registration process. For registration questions, check out this customer service FAQ.

cheers, DKeenum and mD.

not trying to skirt the rules, because i do have a proper license and all, but i'm curious: how does it know if you're using the program on two machines at once? do they have to be connected to the internet for it to know?

The answer is: they don't know. They rely on your honesty. That may change in the future though. There is always the THREAT of the dongle ...

actually, i think you can install the programs on both machines, as long as you don't use them on both computers simulatinously. someone correct me if i'm wrong tho.

edit - never mind, Iacobus already mentioned it. :)
