Subject:anyone having trouble using Native Instruments products as plugins?

I have ACID 4.0f running smoothly. I use NI's Kontakt as a VSTi plugin and when I save my project, then reopen it, the MIDI track that was pointing to Kontakt switches back to my soundcard's default MIDI sounds. So it seems that everytime I open my project I have to point my MIDI track back to Kontakt, but then in Kontakt I have to reselect all my instruments and tweek them all over again. How can I prevent ACID from reverting back to my default MIDI sounds?

I don't have any NI instruments, but I'd really be interested in finding out what the problem/solution is. I've been looking at the Bosendorfer 290 piano plug-in. It has a Kontact engine.

I'm not seeing this on
Win XP sp1
P4 1.7Ghz
Acid 4.0f
Kontakt 1.5.2
MOTU MTP AV
Digi TDM Mix+ card

Try this:

Make sure ACID is NOT running.

run regedit and locate the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry\ACID\4.0\Metrics
or if using the latest Sony release

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software\ACID\4.0\Metrics
Locate the key

VSTi Synth

and delete it.

MAKE SURE YOU ONLY DELETE THE KEY LABLED "VSTi Synth".

Restart ACID. This will force ACID to reconfigure its VSTi list. Then load your project that use the NI plugs.
