Subject:Does it matter what sound card you use when rendering audio project?

Hi, I am wondering if the sound card I use has any impact on sound quality when I render a project. I noticed in the audio settings there are several drivers available, Microsoft Sound Mapper, Windows Classic Wave Driver, Direct Sound Surround Mapper... which one would give the best audio quality? I noticed when I render files in Cubase SX the sound quality is a little crisper, is it because of a higher internal bit rate processing or cleaner audio engine?

when you Render a song in ACID it doesn't use the sound card at all. the whole process is done digitally. the quality of the soundcard comes into play only when you are working on the mix.

ATP is correct. The audio hardware has nothing to do with rendering to file.

"crisper" is subjective. Could you be a bit more objective in your comparision? That is if you take the exact same audio file and render it in Cubase and then ACID, are there any physcial differences? If so, what are they?
