Subject:VSTi and crashing problem solved!

For anyone who may have suffered from the problems I've listed in an earlier post, here's how they were fixed:

Sony guy told me to update the XP 'Service Pack 1' (KB810243); this is NOT listed as a critical update, which is why I overlooked it. Anyway, after doing that, no crashes when rendering an Acid project to a .wav, and no VSTi crashing. The program couldn't work any better!

Also of interest. I informed that Sony rep that even though SF literature states Acid can be used for recording unlimited audio and midi tracks, that wasn't quite true, based on what a lot of people have said here....even the Acid 4.0 manual states that Acid is to used as a loop-based production tool, and you should only record a 'one-shot vocal' take, since it's not designed for that type of work.
WELL, the Sony guy I talked to said they tested Acid to make sure it COUILD record multiple audio and tons of midi tracks....they really tried to crush the thing, and it still kept running. I would guess a lot of what you can do with multple audio tracks depends on your computer.

Anyway, hope this helps anyone in the future, or anyone thinking of moving to Sonar or Live,....why would you do that? Acid rules!!

P.S.
Thanks to mD for helping out, too.

You're welcome! :)

I should note that raven does have a point: You can use ACID like a multitracker (and some actually do with success), but your mileage may vary depending on your hardware and software setup, so just be aware of that.
