I mirror what Sin said. You can check out my remix of Static-X's "Black and White" via my ACIDplanet link at the bottom of this post. (You have to be registered at ACIDplanet (which is free) and you have to have your preferences set to accept more racy content.) In my remix, Wayne Static's vocal seems a tad demonic. I accomplished that simply by duplicating the track in ACID and then shifting the duplicated track an octave below. (Or 12 semitones.) I then pulled back the track's volume some so it woudn't overpower the main vocal track. This is just one way of doing it. There are lots of creative ways and lots of options. Another creative option: If you have Sound Forge (or other digital audio editor), reverse the waveform, add lots of reverb, and then reverse the waveform again. You'll get that "ghostly reverse reverb" effect you hear on some songs. (I distinctly also remember it being used in Blizzard Entertainment's computer game, "StarCraft," for the Protoss race.) ehhhhhhhhhhhhExecutor! dont know if this would be too much for you, but the best way to do sh*t like that is with a vocoder. i wouldnt suppose you are running reason by any chance are you? if you are, there is an amazing vocoder built into that. if no vocoder is available, the suggestions you read will do some ok effects. vocoder will be the best though. -marc |
