i know this is an acid forum, but there are a lot of people knowledgeable and who use reason also, so im PRAYING for a miracle :( im using reason last night (2.5) and my norton anti-virus just finishes updating itself. no sooner than that do i see a red window pop up from norton that says "virus found and removed" the virus was "backdoor.brul" and it attached itself to my reason.exe file. well, with norton removing the "reason.exe" file, i cant use reason for obvious reasons!! (no pun intended) so i go to their website and download reason 2.5 update again, re-install it and norton removed it again!!!! i cant re-install it!!!!! is it possible that norton is recognizing a false virus?? or is it possible that the propellerhead servers legitimately have a virus on it?? oh g-d please help me!!!! i have soooo much that i need to get done, and now this happens!!!! :( --marc |

thank you, i appreciate it a lot!!!!!!! BUT, propellerhead just had a post on their homepage about this problem, it seems as if norton IS in fact identifying a false positive. i wasnt the only knucklehead who had this problem!!! so i have my norton skipping the reason.exe recycle.exe and refillpacker.exe files!!! (which, by the way, if you have norton, turn yours off also or you will lose your reason.exe file also) thank you though VERY MUCH for your offer!!! heres what props home page had to say: About backdoor.blarul... February 24, 2004: Many users have contacted us regarding a virus alert from Norton Anti Virus by Symantec, saying that Reason, ReCycle and ReFill packer are infected with the backdoor.blarul virus. We believe this is not the case and are working with Symantec to clear this situation. [Read more!] |

marc, I had a problem with what I think was norton just last week. I left it on while I downloaded XP service pack 1on my wife's computer. It shut me down in the middle of the install and I ended up the blue screen of death: nothing, no system, nothing. So after an hour on the phone with dell tech support and a full repair ( I think it really just reinstalled the system software.), I decided to diable Norton when I do updates. So I know a little of how you feel. I hadn't backed up (oops!) so I was sweating. All is well now. Are you back up and running? |

OK. Having the same problem with reason 2.5...norton's live update ran about 1 hour ago and as soon as I clicked on reason, it did the same thing. I even excluded the whole folder and it still deletes the freakin .exe. Its a pain in the butt turning off norton on while on the internet cause adware likes to find its way into my PC. Hmmm...what to do....symatec better freakin hurry up!!! This is getting rediculous!!! www.Acidplanet.com/Endosphere |
