Size of highlight rectangle

I have a menu item called "click here to play my video."

Unfortunately, it's so much text that it overlaps other buttons, so I changed it to "Play Video"

The selection rectangle stays the same size, so it still overlaps other buttons.

If I resize the rectangle, it shrinks the text & graphic. I know how to resize the text, but I've got ten graphics, all the same size and perfectly aligned, and I'd like to keep that. The "Maintain aspect ratio" control (or whatever SF calls it) doesn't seem to have any effect.

So my question is, "Is there a way to shrink the selection rectangle without shrinking the text and graphic?"

Thanks in advance for your suggestions . . .

The auto size "feature" is BY FAR the worse implemented I've ever seen in over twenty years of using software. Simply awful. It forces itself on you and resizes text messing things up constantly.

Best bet simply type whatever you want not worrying about how tiny it gets then... click on the little arrow next to AUTO and set whatever font size you want. You then can nudge into position by holding down BOTH the Ctrl + Alt key as you use the keyboard arrow keys (not the keypad arrows, the other ones) to move up/down, left/right.

Click text bar under View on the menu at top if you don't see the text choices.

THANKS! I was having a similar problem with the highlights overlapping onto other buttons and your solution helped.

It would lbe nice if DVDA had a general preferences box to diable auto font size. I actually prefer it and don't mind setting font size manually. But for people who don't want that feature, it would be nice to be able to turn it off.

After using DVD-A for almost a year I'm still trying to guess WHY the bounding box is so far away from the thumbnails and no matter what you do (at least I've haven't found a way) can you alter the distance the bounding box is from the edge of the actual thumbnail which is different than adjusting the size the overall thumbnail takes.

Am I the only one and just being thick headed or what?

I have found the best way to get around this was either to create the text in Vegas with the title generator and make the letters fill the entire screen(ignoring tile/safe areas) against a trans backround.
capute the still as say a .png then import that as your thumbnail in DVDA . It at least makes the txt go all the way to the borders of the box, making the text as large as poss.
You could also do this same kinda thing in Photoshop or PSP.
