The topic is snap, crackle, and popping sounds. Is there a way to edit down these spikes all in one go but without affecting anything else in the track? Ordinarily when I see these, which is pretty rare, I normalize them one by one down to un-offending levels, but this sample is just too much. <img src="http://cownap.com/~pics/temp/snapcrackle.gif" width="649"> http://cownap.com/~pics/temp/snapcrackle.gif http://cownap.com/~pics/temp/snapcrackle.gif Thanks for your insights. Hello Rose, I have had much success with SF7 vinyl restoration tools. I would simple highlight a region and then tweak the settings and then poof, it would identify all the pops and clicks and attenuate them. Furthermore Virtos Audio has a nice crackls and pop removal pluggin that I admire. You may want to check out both noise treatment packages. http://www.virtos-audio.com and of course the Sony Sound Forge Noise Reduction 2.0a |

Unfortunately, I only have SF5. I downloaded the Virtos Audio demo but can't seem to get it to show up in the program. SF help talks about chaining and adding a plugin using a green button, but don't seem to have that one. Any idea where it is? Thanks again. PS. Help also says there's a find and replace feature under tools, but I don't seem to have that either. |

Hello Rose, I think, the best way to resolve your problem is to use the plug-in Noise Reduction 2.0a by sonic foundry. It's a little bit expensive, but really efficient. Select the part you want to restaure. Use plug-in chainer with "clicks and crakle removal" + "Vinyl restauration" + "Vynil Restauration". Furthermore, you can hear the result before process. Bye-Bye ! PS : sorry for my bad english... |

I've found that click & crackle remover is very effective at removing tyhat type of noise. On the few areas where it doesn't remove every click I can manally remove them by a simple edit. Try each of the click setting to see which works best for you. |
