Subject:SF 7.0: Recording 24-bit S/PDIF w/ M-Audio Delta series

Hello everyone! Does anyone else have a problem recording 24-bit via S/PDIF with an M-Audio Delta series soundcard in Sound Forge 7.0a? I'm getting weirdness on playback, like the audio is playing back at a different sample rate. (It plays back quicker with some static.) I'm specifically using the Audiophile 2496. I've ensured that the S/PDIF sample rate is the same (and locked) across the board. (It's all set at 44.1 kHz.) Recording 16-bit works fine. Recording 24-bit in ACID Pro 4.0f works fine too. Strangely enough, I can take a 24-bit recording that I did in ACID Pro and open it up and play it back just fine in Sound Forge 7.0. (?) (The unit the Audiophile slaves to outputs at 24-bit/44.1 kHz.) I'm using the latest supported drivers that M-Audio released back in December for Windows XP. Hmmm... Hey Iacobus - I record daily using the 1010 in SPDIF mode to 44.1 24bit with no problems. Are you using internal clock or spdif clock or word clock? Sound like a clock issue... |

S/PDIF clock; the Audiophile is slaving to my GNX2 guitar effects processor. Are you using the latest drivers, Charles? I just rolled back to an older version of the drivers and all seems fine now...so far. My GNX2 could not communicate with its software editor via MIDI either (with the new drivers). I uninstalled it and I am trying to get to DigiTech's site to download and install it again, but it's down. (I'm stifling an agonizing scream.) :) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I could, but where S/PDIF clock is concerned, there must always be a master and a slave (or slaves). In my case, the guitar effects processor would act as master while the Audiophile slaves to it. I should note I've remedied the situation. There are a couple of solutions. One is to use the "try unpacked 24-bit format first" option on the Wave tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar OR adjust the buffer size. Both solutions work when using the newer drivers.
