Subject:Acid Pro 4.0, just bought, just arrived.

Hello everyone,

I bought Acid Pro 4.0 for quite an expense, secondhand though claimed it was never used, and it didn't come with any sort of instruction manual.

I bought it because I love techno music, and it claims to be able to produce studio-like techno beats/songs.

How exactly to I get started using the product?

It sounds promising, but it doesn't seem like a beginner-friendly product.

Any help is much appreciated.

Most software doesn't include a printed instruction manual anymore. The manual is in a PDF file on the installation CD. The help screens built into the software are also quite good.

What i did to get myself going with ACID was to go visit http://www.acidplanet.com/tools/8packs/ and download the weekly "8 Pack". This is a completed ACID project with the loops and project file that went into it. You can open it up, listen to it, examine it to see how it was put together, play around with it and experiment, etc. I learned more about what to do with ACID from studying a few 8 Packs than i did from reading the manual. Then once you've got a feel for what ACID does and what it's capapble of, the manual makes a good reference guide.

There's lots to learn, but remember to take it all in slowly.

The manual is available here.
