I've had Acid for about a couple of months now..and all of a sudden when i start to record i notice that the vocals are only being recorded on one side instead of two....I dont know how it happend but it did. Is there any way to change it back?
I have been using pan since it happend and its getting annoying now...lol

This sounds most likely a cable or jack fault, rather than a software fault. I note you say vocals. Is it doing the same for anything else? If not, then it's gotta be cables/connections/desk, etc. If so, then uninstall and reinstall sound card drivers and ACID (latest is 4.0f).

As vocal takes are usually mono, you could use Sound Forge's Channel Converter to make existing files mono, or just solo the track in ACID and hit ctrl+m (mix to new track), then select mono. This will also make the file about half the original size (one track only instead of two), though if you do this in ACID, you'll still have the original file, so you could delete that once you've rendered it.

Actually i have another multitrack program....Cool Edit Pro and it does it in there as well...so im guessing you are probably right....maybe its the mic cable...or the jack in the back of the pc...I will try to install another sound card to see if it makes a difference..and ill let u know....

Adding to what BFB's said, you might want to check your soundcard's software mixer's pan control (if one is available). (I know that's an obvious one but it doesn't hurt to be thorough.) ;o)
