Does anyone know if Acid or any other sound software will allow me to interface my application with it. What I am trying to do is send a mp3 or wma file to a sound application have it automatically clean up some sound issues or add some effects then save it to another file so Flash can use the sound file for an animation. Please help! |

If you have a digital audio editor of some sort, you can have ACID use it externally to edit audio. (Note that I'm referring to ACID Pro 4.0 in the following steps.) Go to Options>Preferences on the menu bar in ACID, then click the Editing tab and browse to the EXE that launches your editor. Once you've got that set up, you can right-click the track's track icon and select "Edit in X" (where X represents the name you gave the editor under the Editing tab). Once you make changes in your editing app and save, changes will be reflected in ACID once you switch back to it. (You may have to reload the track if any ACIDized properties were changed, but that's another topic.) Note that you will still have to render out the results to a compatible format that Flash can use, such as MP3 or WAV. You also have the option of rendering out from ACID and doing any editing chores in the audio editing app of your choice and then saving to MP3 or WAV from there, which may be ideal if you have any final mastering tweaks to do to your project. Sorry, I am not sure I explained myself correctly. I need a sound editing software that has an API so that I don't have to open ACID. I need ACID to run in the background and my app will send ACID a file then ACID will run a prepogramed routien then save the file to a drive all without me having to touch ACID. This will need to be done on the fly by my program talking to ACID all of this needs to be done in 60 seconds or less. This will be an application running on a server. |

Oooh...OK. I've read your first post again and failed to notice "automatically". Sorry about that. I don't know if this will help, but do you use Sound Forge 5.0 or 6.0? You can try Batch Converter 5.0 for free if so. It will allow you to apply effects plus convert to a specific file format such as MP3 or WMA across a number of files for you. No, ACID does not export a programmers API. Peter |
