Subject:Soundforge7.0a (Build262) Recording Problems

I'm a DJ doing home recordings, I use Soundforge7.0a (Build262) to record my sets.

Recording attributes: 96,000Hz, 24bits,stereo
Method:normal
Device:M-Audio Delta AP mon.Mixer
Mode:Multiple Takes(no regions)

... however, when I'm done with a set (they are appox. 73-76 minutes) I get problems when I try to save. When I try to save as a .wav I get the error message "The file being rendered has exceeded the maximum size allowed for the selected format". I did not know .wav files have a max size limit. When I try to save as a .mp3 I get the message "Do you want to open the outside player for this file?" whether or not I click yes or no I still get the same following error message "Invalid markers/regions". My mix does not contain any markers or regions. Then it saves a blank file, with no sound at all. I have to dig through my backup files just to find my mix again. I am stumped at all these error messages. I would like to have confidence my Soundforge will be able to save all my precious mixes with ease.
Should I try saving as a different format then converting later?
I have tested saving shorter recordings (approx. 10 minutes) and have had no problems. Is this a time lenght problem?
I have tried reinstalling Soundforge.

I'm running out of ideas...

any help if greatly appreciated guys, so thanks :)

The problem is that the files are simply too big for the file format, (eg wav, aif). For such long takes at such high quality, this comes as no great surprise. There is a maximum file size for the wav format, though I don't know what it is off the top of my head. Out of interest, how big are the files? I'd imagine they're over 2GB (I've a feeling that may be the max size for wav).

You could try saving them as WAV64 (there's a check box for "automatically save large files as wav64" in Options>Preferences), though I'd try reducing the bit-depth and sample rate to reduce the file size, unless you particularly need 24bit/96k.
