Sorry for the newbie question, but does Sound Forge 7 support recording multiple digital audio tracks layered on top of each other; i.e. strings over piano and drums? Their help and their PDF manual do not seem to list this seemingly essential topic anywhere. I'm using the demo on Windows 2000.

No. SF is a stereo wave editor - no multitrack recording. For multitracking you need something like Vegas, Sonar, Cubase, ProFools, etc. Download the Vegas demo and try it out.

Sound Forge used to come with a cut-down version of Vegas (only 8 tracks) which is great for doing multi-tracking. Sony seem to have got rid of that, unfortunately.

Or, you could go to screenblast.com and get Screenblast acid straight from the source.

Better yet though is Vegas. ACID isn't really a multitrack recording application. It can only record one track at a time.
