I tried to complete registration for the 7.0a trial after un-installing it earlier, but got the following message: "An error occurred starting Sound Forge 7.0 Error: 0x800e153 (missing message)." Has anyone had this problem before and should I consider purchasing the full ersion despite this error? |

The demo install and the full install are exactly the same file, so the full registered version shouldn't behave any differently. I'm sure that's exactly what you didn't want to hear. I'd send an email to tech support explaining your problem. They're usually pretty fast and helpful, especially when a potential sale is in question. If they get the demo working for you then the full version will work too. In fact, the only difference between the demo and the full version is that you enter a serial number to unlock the full capability. If you do decide to purchase then you won't have to install anything else. All you have to do is enter the serial number you receive and the demo becomes the full version. |

Wondering which platform you are using. If you have XP maybe you can do a system restore to some point before you did the initial unistall. From what I've seen in the past, it sounds like some of the files in the system registry didn't get unistalled when you did the first uninstall. You can try loading SF into a folder other than the default folder at setup. I know when I have uninstalled some other software, Roxio for instance, that the unistall which comes with the program doesn't get rid of all the files installed on your hard drive. They have an application, Roxzap, for that purpose. How did you uninstall SF the first time? Did you use the windows uninstaller or SF's unistaller? The suggestion to contact tech support at SF is a very good idea. This is one of the many annoying things about using a computer in the 21st century. |
