I've been using ACID since the beginning. My main complaint is the sync. I am MAC based for sequencing and I sync ACID and Reason (I also use GigaStudio on ny PCs). ACID is very unstable when slaved to incoming sync. It constantly crashes. I can sync Reason without any problems and it never crashes. The autosave is great so I can recover what I was last doing however, ACID can't find the files on it's own. I need to manually tell it where to search for the files. That's time consuming and very annoying. Lastely a quick search function would be great in the ACID explorer. Something similar to the quick search in GigaStudio. For instance you type "kick" and all the files named kick show up on your drive. |

Hmmm... It could be a case of drivers; M-Audio is a little sloppy with the way they write theirs. What's your OS on the PC? Since you're using USB, be sure that the Midisport isn't sharing USB bandwidth with other devices. It's not a case that the USB bus can't handle the MIDI data; the Midisport's drivers just might not like sharing. I'm on Win 2000. Thanks for your thoughts but I really doubt it's the M-Audio driver. It works fine for Reason. I got 2 PCs, one syncing Reason, one ACID (well trying to sync ACID). With ACID I get regular crashes and if I don't reboot right away it does on its own a few minutes later. I've swapped the apps on those PCs (althought they are pretty much identical) with the same result. |

Don't doubt it; there was an initial problem with ACID 4.0 and M-Audio's Delta ASIO driver, which M-Audio acknowledged was their fault (and subsequently fixed). Just because it works fine for one app doesn't mean the driver will work similarly with another. Have you tried contacting M-Audio as well? Thanks for your thoughts mD, actually I updated my video card driver *GeForce) and it works better since then. It won't crash anymore but I often have to toggle on/off the "chase to incoming MTC button" for it to work after while. Reason chases faster and works better because it uses the MIDI beat clock. It would be great for ACID to have that sync option as well. |

That would figure, since video does account for a large majority of problems, even for stuff you'd think has nothing to do with video. Have you tried bringing your video acceleration down a notch or two (or even off)? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
