Subject:recording from computer with sound forge

I use to by able to play sound clips on my computer or play an external device pluged into my line in on my sound card and sound forge would pick up what's being played on the record sreen and then it could be recorded. Then one day it stopped. I don't know what happened but I'm no longer able to do this. I usally record onto my 8 track and then play it on my com. and use sound forge to record it. Is their any way to trnit back on or a new way I can record?

Is your sound card input set to Line (for external analogue sources), or wave, (for recoding computer files into Sound Forge)? My suggestion is that you check which input is selected on your sound card software.
