Anybody seen this happen? I am getting small crackles on playback and record with Acid 4.0 and Vegas 4.0, both WDM and ASIO, buffer settings don't seem to help. Vegas 3.0 is solid. This may or may not be sound card related, (Delta 1010). However, here's the kicker: Rendering several tracks to a new file in Acid 4.0 causes small crackles and pops in the rendered file, verified on Sound Forge to actually be there. No sound card involved in the render process. Whether it matters or not I don't know, but these tracks were recorded into Acid, and were not loops. Any help would be apprecieated. Jim |

If there's crackling going on in the original files (try to see if you can confirm glitches on the originals in Sound Forge), then they'll be rendered anyway. I was having an odd problem using the latest Delta drivers (the 0036's) and 24-bit recording in Sound Forge, which was remedied by adjusting the DMA buffer (which struck me as odd, as I didn't have to do this before). I'm using the Audiophile 2496. Since you've tried adjusting the buffer, try uninstalling the Delta drivers and reinstall using the latest ones (if you haven't done so already). There's no crackling on the original files, only shows up after being rendered. As for Delta drivers, I've tried the 0036 but have reverted to 0027 for other reasons. This problem existed in both versions. |

the only thing i can imagine that could cause crackles is a plugin or VSTi you have running. i noticed that for example the Isotope Vinyl plugin (when applied to a track directly) crackles even when there is no event drawn. |

Make sure the samples are playing back as one-shots. If they've defaulted to beatmapped, this may be your problem. There's a check box in Options>Preferences to help with playback clicks, but this shouldn't affect your mixdowns. BFB |
