When I purchased this software and downloaded it yesterday, I thought I would be done with my project by now. I have read some of the topics on this forum, and it appears that there are quite a few knowledgeable people out there. I purchased ACID 4.0, and the default recording device that comes up when I try to record is Microsoft Sound Mapper. Apparantly, this is not working, and the drop down window does not allow me the option of selecting my device which I Yamaha. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.

This happens with Microsoft Sound Mapper when running more than one soundcard. It defaults to record and playback settings as specified in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio Tab. You need to tell ACID to use the Windows Classic Wave Driver.

Open ACID, go to Options>Preferences>Audio Tab. The first item will be a drop down list. Select Windows Classic Wave Driver and set your default playback devices, then Apply.

You can now select which device to use in the Record dialog.

Clicking the little square within a square symbol in the top left corner of the master buss (or any additional buss) on the mixer panel allows you to select which device to use. You can assign different soundcards/outputs to individual busses, very useful if you're using a mixer.
