hi,

well, is that only me but, I'm really not satisfied with SF's timestretch tool!!

there's a lot of artefacts, echoes and metallic definition when you stretch too much!!

but not in softs like Prosoniq Time Factory with the same settings!!

So, SONY guys, is there a chance you could improve that ESSENTIAL too in a pro audio edtitting software???

thx!!

well, looks like I'm the only one that's not satified with it!!

anyway, I found a FREE VST plug called PitchWorx from Delaydots!
with a vst 2 Dx converter, it worx really fine and is MUCH better in pitch shift & time stretch than SF!!

But is still consider that it's a shame that you can't use the native function in a pro audio edtitting software, especially for an essential tool like Pitch shift & Time stretch!!

Sorry to say that, but don't be confused by what I'm saying: I'm using SF for ages, and it's THE audio editor in my studio!
SO, I'm not saying it's a bad product, I only try to make it even better!!

note:
of course, there's the same quality prob with these functions in Vegas! :s

ANNYYBODY IN THE HOUSE??????

very strange, I'm sure I'm hearing voices in the other rooms, but still nobody!!!

A thrilling question comes to my mind:

is it all a dream, or.... am I still alive???

Hi from the other room! The work i do with SF doesn't lead me to use timestretch. I have only used it once - about three months ago, as a favor for the daughter of a friend. She needed her music montage for a gymnastics routine stretched by about 5% (went from about 90 sec to 95 sec, I know nothing about gymnastics so I don't know why this was necessary). The original source wasn't great quality and the stretched version was of the same quality. Had none of the problems you described. I'm going back to other room now.

I agree that it could be better, although I am a sucker for those drumnbassy rattling timestretches, so I'd like to retain the current timestretch functions for that retro sound, as well as improve them.

Yes, I agree with you, some times some limitations can be used as an effect, but when you only want to slow down a vocal part for voiceover or what ever, the resulting sound can only be used if the vocal is from robby the robot or any robotic alien!!
