Subject:SoundForge 7.0 - Batching??

OK, everyone, I first want to say that "audio" isn't my thing. Using SoundForge is a necessity for me to stream WAV files into ASF/RM/WMA files, but I'm no export by a long shot. I have been using version 4.5 for ages, but just upgraded to 7.0. Lo and behold, no batching capability exists in 7.0!! Why, and more importantly, what can I do about this? I see on the site that it says if you have older versions of SoundForge you can use Batch Converter 5.0 - but no mention of what to do if you have 7.0. Am I missing something? I tried searching the Knowledge Base, but it was no help. I emailed them yesterday, but no response yet (actually, they have 43 minutes before their 24 hours is up). |

Hello - Why dont buy Batch Converter? You can do a lot with that tool, including adjusting the bit depth as well as the sample rate which could make your files compatible with more programs. I think it is worth having, on occassion I Batch Process like 300 separate files on a daily basis, and I could not imagine doing all that in SF7, even though there are excellent routines available. Hi Keven, I would buy batch converter if I knew if they still sold it. According to their website, they no longer sell batch converter 5.0. It doesn't mention if there is a later version or any version at all that works with SF7. I can't find the product anywhere on the site. Where can I buy it? I still haven't received any email reply from the support folks on this, even though I requested help two days ago. This is all very frustrating. I wouldn't have upgraded to SF7 if I had known it couldn't batch. Lisa |

WHY was Batch Converter taken off the roster of purchasable products? There are many alternative converters but I have yet to find one which supports DX pluggins and customizable routines for future use. Please comment, Kevin *** |

I recently noticed this too. Don't know why Batch Converter was dropped but I'm hoping they incorporate its functionality into the next version of either Sound Forge or Vegas, or both. If you had upgraded to Sound Forge 5 when it came out then you would be able to download Batch Converter 5 for free as they still have it in the updates section. Dave |
