I am getting clicks in between my songs when I try to make a CD. I am using Real Player. I've tried various configurations with fade ins and outs and Auto Cropping, but nothing seems to work. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks |

Are you using RealPlayer to make your CD's? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Hmm, sounds like they're just playing back SF burnt CD's in Real Player. Real Player is an ungodly mess of a program, but to answer you question, the clicks could be from the track at once format that SF uses to burn CD's. Two suggestions are to make sure you aren't cutting off sound at the end of each track when you burn, and well, don't use SF or Real Player for CDs. Even an instant of silence before you cut tracks is necessary because Tract at Once leaves that 3 second pause and you don't want to be ending a track at anywhere but a zero crossing. (That sounds all technical, but basically, make sure each .wav or whatever you burn starts and ends on silence, even if only a quarter second.) Real Player is a terrible player and burner, and a Disc at Once burner will give you a better result, usually, than SF's Track at Once. Try iTunes, of all things, or the CD Burner plug in for WinAmp 2.91 (don't know if it's out for 5 yet, which is a much better program than Real Player for, well, everything.) Download Nero and try that out, too. The trial is only a few weeks, but it's worth buying the program. |

In Track at once mode and for the first cut in a dao recording I leave .150 seconds of silence, prior to audio. I find that leaves enough time for a clean burn which will play on any CD player I've used. I've set that as a default time in the insert silence icon in Soundforge 6. Place the cursor at zero in the file window, click on the insert silence icon in Sound Forge and that's it. I'd highly recommend Nero. For less than 100$ it's the most flexible burning software I've ever used. |
