Hey there -- first post on this board :)

Anyhow, I'm experiencing cursor latency when using my nVidia ASIO driver. My sound is integrated (lame i know, but it's what i have for now) with the nForce chipset.

When do a playback of my song, from any position along the timeline, the song plays back okay, but the cursor starts about 2 seconds after i play.

If i switch the driver to Windows Classic, or the SoundMapper, or DirectSound, it plays back with no probs.. this only occurs with ASIO

my drivers are the newest that nVidia provides.. I'm using Acid 4.0e

any ideas?

Hello wripp and welcome,

None really that I can think of, other than switching to Windows Classic as you've noted. You can very comparable results using that driver model anyway unless you're recording MIDI.

You might also want to try reducing or turning off video acceleration to see if that helps. Also see if you can try older drivers; sometimes newer drivers can muck up things.

thanks for your reply lacobus -- unfortunately for me in this situation, i *am* recording midi -- a lot of it, and the low latency of the ASIO is, so far, the only thing i've been happy with.

I need response, and nothing else gives it to me :)

I can't rollback by nForce drivers either, because that means removing ASIO support from my chipset lol!

*sigh

This type of problem was an issue with the original Creative Audigy ASIO drivers. Creative had to release an updated driver to correct the problem.

Basically the ASIO driver was reporting position information incorrectly, cause the cursor to be incorrect in ACID.

It appears that the nVidia drivers have a similar problem.

What version of the drivers are you using?

sorry for the late reply to this -- the nVidia ASIO driver version is 6.14.366

HOWEVER -- i just recently noticed a windows update on Microsoft's website that had an update to the nForce drivers, and it bumped the driver version up to 6.14.409

the cursor follows the playback flawalessly now BUT THE VOLUME IS JACKED!!

in my nforce control panel every one of the 5.1 level meters is redlined and not even bouncing.. haha

one problem gone, another created *sigh

try this: http://michael.tippach.bei.t-online.de/asio4all/
it's an universal asio driver which works with almost any soundcard you throw at it ,
i personally use it for a onboard c-media which works a treat.
it's rather spartanic but worth a go imo.
