It seems that many people render their ACID projects to 24 bit wavs. I understand the benefits of doing this, I just want to know what procedures people use for converting these to a 16 bit, 44.1kHz cd master. Do you use conversion utilities or Sound Forge's bit-depth convertor? Or what? BFB |

Yes on using Sound Forge's bit-depth converter. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Girlio on ACIDPlanet tells me to use dithering, but I'm still interested to hear any more thoughts. BFB |

You should use dithering to mask quantization noise when converting from 24-bit to 16-bit. (It's easier to hear this noise at lower bit-depths, so dithering will help remedy that.) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
