Sound Forge 7.0 is not recognizing any of the third party plugins that I have installed: Steinberg Mastering Edition, and Waves. Version 6.0 recognized them without a problem. Is there something I am missing or need to do?

Have you tried using any of the migration tools?

Sounds like the DXCache is invalid or incomplete.

1) Unregister one plugin (e.g. sfppack1.dll), restart forge, re-register it, restart forge. You can reg/unreg plug-in .dlls by drag-and-dropping the .dll from Windows Explorer onto an open instance of forge, or on the command line with the regsvr32.exe tool.

- or -

2) If you are familiar with regedit, delete the DXCache registry key in HKLM\Software\Sony Media Software\Sound Forge\7.0, then restart forge.

I've been having a similiar problem.I can process my third party plugins seperately, but when I put them in a chain I get this message. "Plugin failed to load. Please make sure the plugin is properly installed" The plugin's in question are both Antares products. They both appear in the DX cache in the registry and they both operate perfectly in Wave Lab 4.0.This is not my only issue with SF7 but it's related to the topic of this thread.

Yes I am having the same problem. I don't have dx cache in my registry. Support told me to uninstall 7.0 and install the 7.0a update. I did and I still have the same problem and I still don't have DX cache folder in the registry. I hope I don't have to reformat and install XP Pro again. What a nightmare that'll be. I'll have to re-activate it with Microsoft. Any suggestions.

I tried dragging and dropping plugin dll's in an open instance of Sound Forge and I got the dialog box which said click to register. I did but when I restarted Sound Forge the plugin did not appear in the all or third party plugin folder. What now?

Success finally!!! To solve my dilema I uninstalled 7.0a rebooted and then created another administrator and reinstalled 7.0a. When I opened the program and checked the plugin folder my third party plugins were there.
I want to sincerely thank all the members of this forum who replied with their suggestions.
