Subject:Acid delay on overdubs

I'm using Acid 4.0d and when I try to record an overdub, the track records approximately quarter beat late. It's just a little off. A little, but it's noticeable. I have to go in and physically drag the file a little to the left until it lines up.

Can anyone help me trouble shoot this problem?

Thanks - UP.

It may be a sound card latency problem. What kind of sound card do you have?

Are you recording MIDI or digital audio? And what's your soundcard?

You may have to adjust your latency or try a different driver model.

I am using Creative SB Live! Series (WDM). I am recording Digital Audio. I use a PODXT direct into the soundcard. I also use Guitar Port with the POD, but that doesn't seem to affect it either way. Also, when I was using Sonar I noticed that there was an echo/delay and I fixed that by changing the recording device to the POD. Does that help? I'm baffled - every other program seems to work okay, but I really like working in Acid.

Thanks - UP!

How do you do that?

The SB card doesn't use ASIO drivers as far as I know. There could be a big part of your latency.

I don't think ASIO drivers were available for the Live either. Ensure you have the latest drivers if there are any available.

Go to Options>Preferences on the menu bar and then the Audio tab. Try adjusting user recording latency if automatically detecting hardware latency doesn't help.

You may also want to pick up the latest ACID Pro 4.0 update, as it's now at 4.0f Build 446.
