Hi, when i press play on a wav file the locator bar doesnt move in a smooth motion. it skips, making it difficult to track exactly where in the sound file it is.

This is on a brand new sony laptop (centrino, if that makes a difference)
Any ideas?

it doesnt do this on any other pc i have seen it on

This may or may not help, but it's worth a try: under Options / Preferences / General, there are two check boxes named "Compatible draw mode" and "Compatible scroll mode". Try various combinations of checking/unchecking them and see if that helps.

it could also be a limitation of the graphics card & driver. if above suggestion doesn't help you can try to reduce the video accelleration.

if you are running XP go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Tab -> Advanced button -> Troubleshoot tab.

in this menu, turn down the hardware accelleration by one notch. reboot, and then play a wave file in SF again.

if this doesn't help either, it's probably best to set the hardware accelleration to full again.
