Hi all, I have been lurking in the background for a while and decided to set up an account. Here is a problem that has me stumped. I use Acid 4.0 and the Sound Forge 6.0 Studio that came with it. I can record directly into Acid with no problem. The meters show no noise and all recordings are clean. When I try to record into Sound Forge I have a background hum show up on the recording meters when I am setting the record level of my line in. I go through a mixer and with all record faders down to zero the noise is still registering on the meter. I use the same sound card (Echo Mia) when using Sound Forge or Acid. I am curious if anyone else has seen this and how do I get rid of it. The noise does not show up on the Acid record meters or the recordings directly into Acid. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Don |

Are you able to record a sound in SF? If so, I can only presume it contains the hum, then I'm not too sure why it's happening. If not, (at least in the full version, anyway - not so sure about SF6 Studio as I've never used it) there is a little drop down menu in the record dialog for input source. If your motherboard has onboard sound, or you have multiple soundcards, this may have defaulted to one of these. Best to go set up the correct default card in Options>Preferences. Also probably best to check out your defaults in Control Panel. It's probably worth updating your soundcard drivers and un/reinstalling Sound Forge. Amazing how many things this fixes. Hope this is it! BFB |

BFB, Yes, I am able to record into SF and the noise is there. My card has the latest drivers installed. I noticed this awhile back when I was running Acid 3 and SF 5.0 studio. I thought it would be cleared up when I put the new card in but it did not. Kind of wierd being that Acid recording is quiet as a church mouse and SF has a signal on the record meters. I don't think its a registration thing or demo thing (you know the ones that induce some sort or beep or glitch after the trial period). The serial number comes up at initialization of the program and says registered to me. It is the SF version that came with Acid 4.0 I am completely stumped. I also have studio 4.5 and 5 still installed. I am going to remove them tonight and just keep ST 6.0 Studio installed. Thanks for the suggestions. Don |

How much noise is actually present, Don? (What do the meters register in dB?) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
