One of our "older" Computers that we like alot does not want to deal with an 80 gig external hard drive. We used the adaptec firewire card on the pci slot..The drive formatted fine in the old fat 32, but when you try to open or play data, the computer locks.. anybody got some hints, tried the 2 Windows fixes.. sparrow |

I believe the only fix for this is that you have to divide the 80gig into smaller partitions. Just a limitation of that OS. |

Thanks for the information..we will try this. At times with computers it seems that we need a new one to record/edit music every 3 years! sparrow |

I know what you mean. I bought my 700Mhz Athlon 3 years ago for doing multi-track work, and am still using it, but 3 years ago I thought it was blazing fast. Although, this is considered ancient for todays standards, and I'm again, in the market to have to build a new one. I also, have my 200Mhz machine I purchased for mastering 6/7 years ago. Haven't even powered it up in over 2 years now, although I could still do mastering on it using Sound Forge 4.5. I swear they just have a clock adjustment within the same processors that they just turn up the clock speed every 6 months. If they would just let me know where that clock adjustment is, I could turn up my 700Mhz chip myself and not have to keep making Intel rich. |
