Subject:Replacement CD?

I'm not sure how this happened but I put my Acid CD into the drive of my new computer the other day to copy the sample loops to my hard drive. This went as expected but just before I was about to eject the disk I heard a strange noise.

The disk had shattered in the drive. I tried to eject but the CD drive wouldn't open. To cut a long story short, I eventually removed the shattered remains of the CD by dismantling the drive.

My query is this; if I were to return the pieces of my original disk to you (SoFo) and pay for shipping/posting both ways would you replace it? Would you need the manual to be sent back as well? If the disk cannot, for whatever reasons, be replaced will I be able to install updates without it? Is there a way of burning a disk from the installed programme that will act as the original disk?

Thanks for your time.

You can go to the download page listed in the top right corner of this page to get the current version of whatever ACID you're using. You can also download updates to that version there for as long as this website exists (hopefully forever). In fact, it's highly recommended that you do this rather than using the version that came on the CD anyway since the downloadable version probably has some bug fixes that the CD version doesn't. However, this only covers the software itself.

Also included on that disc were probably hundreds of loops and other samples which can't be downloaded. I think a quick call to customer service could probably resolve this for you. The serial number isn't tied to the disc in any way, so a replacement disc wouldn't be a new license. You'd still use the same serial number printed in your manual no matter which disc you have. Try emailing customer support first; i've usually had them respond within a day or two and they're always very helpful and courteous. contact customer service

Thanks for your advice, I have copied my previous post to support via your link.

I have the latest (4.0f) update and as I stated I have already copied the loops to my hard drive. I was more concerned about future updates (if there are going to be any before Acid 5) or having to re-install if something happens to my hard drive or whatever.

Thanks again for responding.
