I have a karaoke disk that has a sort of "click track" on it. It is a short little beep every beat of the song. It doesn't sound like a single frequency, but a mix of several tones. I have tried spectrum analysis to identify the tones but the music is pretty much always there, so that muddies up the spectral display. I stacked three parametric filters (set as notches) on three likely tone frequencies, and reduced it somewhat but it is still objectionable.

Has anyone else ever dealt with this sort of issue?

Thanks and regards,
-Don

What are you trying to do exactly? Remove the click track? It can't be done, at least not perfectly. When you remove certain frequencies, you also remove that very same frequency other instruments may share.

Yep, you're right. It is basically the same problem as "voice removal" that comes up so often in the forum. If I could pin it down to one or two very specific frequencies, I could live with having a narrow (Hi-Q) notch at those frequencies. I mean, missing one or two notes from a keyboard, or changing the overtones a bit on an instrument, is not too objectionable to me compared with that annoying beep. My problem is identifying the specific frequencies. Spectrum analysis didn't get me there because there is no place on the recording that is "beep-only." Scanning a notch filter along the spectrum didn't get me there because it isn't a single frequency. I was kind of hoping that someone out there knew about this as some "standard" for beeping, and could tell me the specifics on the tones.

Thanks anyway for the reply. I appreciate it,
-Don
