Odd- it should work, works for me.

The default settings will give you uncompressed video and audio based on the project settings, which you probably don't want anyway.
Can you render using any of the preset render templates?

I 've only tried the defaults. my "backup" machine runnign win 98 SE does it fine, but my main production box running Win 2k, can't.

With and QT codec I ve tried it starts to render the at the end says it can't becaues "the file can't be found".

Everything else workd fine, but I need to render QT files.

Help.

Are you saving to a really long file path? QT only allows up to 55 characters (limitation of QuickTime).

If you are saving your renders somewhere under your My Documents folder, this can turn out to be a longer path than you'd think. For example, for you this path might be C:\Documents and Settings\Widetrack\My Documents\ and we're already up to 49 characters without a destination filename or nested deeper into folders. It also creates a temporary file as part of the rendering process and this adds an additional 4 characters.

Try again by specifying a shorter render path and see if this works for you.

I'm saving right to the desktop.

Well that's probably the answer.

For example:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop
is 47 characters long so if your QT ends in .mov that only leaves 6 characters for the name itself.

Try saving it to the root directory of a drive and see if that works.

Cheers

Unbelievable.

You guys nailed it. I rendered to a root directory and it went like clockwork.

My thanks and admiration.
