No there isn't. Very expensive but you can get one (stand alone not plug-in) here http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/ You then have to have authoring software that supports DTS audio (don't know if DVD-A does but I doubt it) |

You then have to have authoring software that supports DTS audio DVDlab does support DTS for authoring but I don't know anybody that has shelled out the +$1900 for the encoder. |

I am one of those who has shelled out the $2000 for the SurCode DTS-DVD. Personally, I know of 2 apps that support it.. Sonic Scenarist at $30,000 and TMPGEnc DVD Authoring at a much more reasonable $100. It is very limited in it's scope however. DTS is NOT supported under DVD-Audio. DTS is an optional component for DVD-Video, as it is a lossy codec along the lines of Dolby Digital. I think you are getting confused with Audio on DVD-Video. DVD-Audio is a totally different animal. It only uses PCM or MLP (a lossless format that repacks the bitstream into a smaller space, but does NOT throw away any audio) To be honest, DTS is probably not worth the bother when getting started. Only buy when you have a job for it. It's biggest point in favour is the ability to create a DTS surround mix on a CD-R that will play in full surround on a suitably equipped DVD player with DTS decoders in the AV amp. Without the DTS AV amp, you will not get the best from it. BTW - you should also be able to create a Dolby Digital WAVE file that will burn to CD, and play back in a DVD player also. |

sales of DTS are going through the roof -- certainly not being phased out by any means ... we have been installing them like nuts and the Digital model seems always on backorder ... thier new hard drive playback unit is also starting to sell now .. |

You're being funny, right? SDDS is a 7-8 channel system for movie theaters only. 5 of those channels are in FRONT of the audience. It was not intended for home use. |

Actually, you CAN have DTS on a DVDA disc. Look for the Sheryl Crow dvda - Globe Sessions and also the Queen dvda's. Adam. |

No, you can NOT have DTS on a DVD-Audio disc. What you are talking about are hybrid, or universal DVD's. DVD-Audio uses the Audio_TS folder at the root of a DVD, DTS and Dolby Digital use the Video_TS folder, which is sometimes there for backwards compatibility with players that are not capable of playing DVD-Audio. DTS & DD are as I said before, nothing to do with DVD-Audio. They are part of Audio for DVD-Video, and DTS is not even compulsory but an optional format. No DVD player is actually required to support it at all. It is merely an option. The compulsory formats are PCM/Dolby Digital for NTSC DVDV, and add MPEG-1layer 2 for PAL DVDV. DVD-A is PCM or MLP ONLY. |

Wilkees, Have you been able to use the Surcode DTS encoded wav files into DVDarchitect2.0? Is there another option, like encoding the mp2 in Vegas or other third party, using the surcode wav, and authoring with DVDarchitect? Thank you in advance. |

AFAIK, there are 2 current applications for PC that support DTS Audio for DVD-Video. 1/. DVD-Lab Pro (the standard version supports it, but only allows a single audio stream so any discs made with DTS would be instantly out of spec and may not play back on set top players. 2/. Sonic Scenarist. That is your lot. Spruce Maestro did support a form of DTS, cpt, but that was discontinued a long time ago. DVD-Architect does not support DTS Audio at all. |

you can add a DTS stream to a dvd with IFOEDIT also (helps to use PgcEdit which works with IFOedit) .. with those tools - you can add a DTS stream to a DVDA project and still retain the menus and such .. |
