I want to assign an assignable effect to all of the vocal tracks in my projects ONLY but every time I select an assignable effect for one track from the multipurpose fader all of the other tracks change as well. Is there any way for the assignable effects to apply to only the tracks I want them to instead of all the tracks? I had a different assignable effect I wanted to use for the percussion as well. Can you run assignable effects concurrently? Thanks in advanced! |

yes, insert a bus. bottom right click on insert track bus. just say its bus a compression. on any track you want to have compression, just click on the icon and select bus a compression! (pretty esy) HTH --marc |

Yea that is pretty easy. THANKS! I was thinking the BUS had something to do with my sound card and that I would run out of them but now I know! I am the LEARNINATOR lol This is so cool! I can compress all the vocals in one bus (let’s say bus a) and then EQ some bass on my percussion and set it to bus b. I guess the assignable FX is kind of obsolete then? huh |

use a bus if you know you are going to be using an effect on multiple tracks. (like compression, reverb, the typical effects...) it is much less taxing on your computer too using busses. using an assignable effect is great if you just want that effect on a single track or something. glad it helped. --marc |

Busses can also be applied to individual outputs when you have a multi-out souncard, or multiple soundcards. Just go to Options>Preferences>Audio Tab and set the device type to Windows Classic Wave Driver, then click on the wee square-within-a-square icon for the buss (in ACID's mixer panel) in order to do this. I know this isn't what you asked, but at least you're learnin'! BFB |

I have a creative labs sound blaster mp3+ live sound card. I know that isn't exactly high end. That probably explains why I only have one output. I have a 4 speaker setup. 2 front w/ subwoofer and 2 rear speakers. That would be cool having designated tracks to go to different speakers. I'm eventually gonna get a computer setup up specifically for digital video & audio editing. Probably going to go with a custom made Alienware. I hope ACID 5 pro will be able to compete with the MEGA GIANT Pro Tools. |

Remember that ACID (like Sony's other apps) was meant to modular and flexible enought to work with other apps, even from different companies, unlike Pro Tools' "everything and the kitchen sink in one contained environment" approach, which I really don't personally like. So, basically, ACID doesn't compete with Pro Tools in that sense. And just because everyone else uses it doesn't mean you exactly should. You use what works for you.
