I guess there are problems with VST in Acid 4.0f : - When I refresh the VST list in the Preferences menu, some plug-ins are missing; when I refresh it again, missing plug-ins finally appear... - The plug-in Triangle II (by rgc audio) is never detected by Acid (however, Triangle I works fine) - The plug-in ErsDrums makes Acid crash at startup Does Acid really support VST technology or are there restrictions to know ? I'm running Win98SE. Thanks. |

>>Does Acid really support VST technology or are there restrictions to know ? << Yes, we support VSTi technology, not the VST FX technology. Just because a Plug-in "claims" to be VSTi, does not mean it follows the standard exactly. There are FAR more shareware/smallware vendors of plugins out there than we can reasonably test. We test with the main stream vendors - NI, Steinberg, MOTU, etc - and are willing to work with any vendor that has issues with our hosting. I would recommend you contact the particular vendor of the plugins you are having problems with to determine whether they have assured compatability with ACID. If they have issues, then they are more than welcome to communcitate with us any issues they have with ACID's host implementation of VSTi. Peter |

I know this is strange, but both triangles work for me, but Cheese Machine is not recognized ( I've talked about it in another post). I talked to Big Tick (the developer) and they say it works fine for them. If it works for everyone but me, I've wondered if it's not something with my system. |

OK... try some basics... uninstall ACID from control panel>add/remove programs, then re-install the latest version (ACID Pro 4.0f). If the VSTi had an install program (not just a .dll that you dropped into your plugins folder) then do the same for that. If it was just a .dll file, try downloading it elsewhere. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your soundcard. If this doesn't work, it's probably something to do with Windows, so try a clean installation (clean means format the system (normally c:) drive and start over). If it still doesn't work, it may be a BIOS problem or I'll be buggered if I know what it is. |

>>rgcAudio is a big vendor Not really. They are popular, but it is really very tiny company. One developer the last time I checked. We have tried working with him in the past, but in my experiance he doesn't test with ACID. I know he has ACID, but if he has problems, he does not communicate with us what they are. Beyond that, I don't know what we can do. We want to be compatible with as many vendors as possible, but we need to be met half-way. Having said this, we will review how the rgc plugs work and hopefully get rgc to enumerate any issues they have with our hosting. Peter |

I don't think that there are any issues with rgcAudio plugins. I have several and they all work fine for me. |
