Which burner are you using? I have a NEC 9300A burner and am also using Nero. I use Nero 6 and had a simiare problem. Nero had me unistall their software using an unistall application (rather than using control panel) and do a complete reinstall and a upgrade to the latest version and now my dao function works properly |

Does it work in track at once? dao96? Are you burning it in Nero Burner or Nero express? Will the disc play in the CD drive it was burned in? These might sound like silly questions but what I've found is that Nero, while being far superior to Roxio is not as easy to use. Once you've figured it out it blows Roxio away. Also, try dropping the burning speed from max to something in the X16 speed. See if that helps. Make sure you're burinng WAV files and creating CDA files, which is what the CD actually reads. |

The Help files for nero is a separate download. SF will not burn DAO, only Track-At-Once (TAO) so tracks will always have a 00:02 space. Ahead's Nero will read SF track markers so you would not have to extract regions and make separate files, if for instance you had multible tracks on a single file and wanted separate track numbers. Just add your file(s) to Nero, go to Edit>Properties. (or double click file) Select Indexes Limits Split >> Split at Index positions and/or make sure the pause time is set to :00 in Track Properties if you do not want pauses. Burn CD using Disc-At-Once mode. Burn speed should not be a factor as Nero will warn you if somethings amiss |

And thanks rraud because you've solved my problems as well. I bought this computer (A Dell 8300 @ 2.8 G w/1G of ddr ram) in Sepember and have had difficulty with the burner. I've been inn contact with Dell and Nero and even NEC. Turns out that by unchecking the save metadata selction in Sound Forge 6, that solved my problems. I do all my audio work in SF and I guess the metadata which was saved was somehow confusing Nero. Now I can burn DAO and TAO over and over. Also, I have set up Nero so that it tests the burn rate prior to any project. It doesn't add a lot of time and it does insure a perfect burn every time. The was I am able to do that in Nero is to uncheck the Justlink box. Ity's taken a long time but the results are worth it. Again, thanks rraud and P2G . What both of you did was make me look into possible conflicts between the way SF saves a file and what nero wants to see. |
