So I've recorded some midi. I put it into the chopper, loop it, then chop it to a new track. But, it doesn't loop. There's a bunch of blank space before the end of the loop. Why? How can I create a file of looped midi that can be painted onto the timeline? Also, why doesn't the midi editors tempo reflect the tempo that the project is set to? Its soo frustrating! |

welcome to the wonderful world of midi in acid!!!! :) (sarcasm) acid's midi is not quite "up to par" when it comes to convenience features like tempo matching in the editor and scrolling while editing. with that aside, what it seems like to me your problem may be, is that when you record a midi sample, just say a simple 1 key bass line or something...if you only have say, 6 instances of that key...it is not going to be a clean 8 beat bass loop. edit it in the piano roll editor. pretty simple. as you add more keys or "instances" of that note, you will see your loop resize itself in your main sequencer. edit it to your hearts desire! MIDI tracks in ACID tend to be slow to update whilst editing. Hitting stop and then play tends to sort things out. This may not be your problem, I never use the chopper, I just zoom in and use "S" to split at the cursor, and ctrl+c/v for copy/paste. I can't fault the logic of the above post, however. Your playing is never going to be as precise as ACID's and when you split a midi event in ACID, it does not trigger the event as a new note, so it does not sound. You might want to try the quantize feature in the piano roll editor to force notes to play on the beat. This will match up much better and avoid the triggering problem when you use the chopper. BFB. |
