Getting Ready for Sound Forge 7.0 Installation -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:Getting Ready for Sound Forge 7.0 Installation Posted by: nlavon Date:1/17/2004 9:31:04 AM I'm getting ready to install my upgrade Sound Forge 7.0a. Before I do the installation, let me ask a question. Reading some posts, it seems one can delete Sound Forge 6.0d (which I have) after installing 7.0. But what has to be saved on the drive from the Sonic Foundry folder? I have BatchConverter, Vegas Video Lite and Noise Reduction. I should save those.. but does the upgrade program (59 MB) upgrade the existing application or install a whole new one? I remember deleting the old Sound Forge when installing the updates. Is that how this works? Or does the new installation need the old folder? A little confusing but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks for any help. Neal Lavon Takoma Park, MD USA

Sound Forge 7.0 installs in subfolders beginning with "Sony" and does not need the old folder. Do not try to install former Sonic Foundry programs in this same folder; keep the default "Sonic Foundry" folders intact for Batch Converter, Vegas and Noise Reduction. You should be able to uninstall Sound Forge 6.0 safely once you're comfortable with Sound Forge 7.0. Be sure to check out this KB article for more details. I'm looking forward to trying the migration tool for my plug-ins and associated programs. Hopefully, it will beat re-entering serial numbers and figuring out how to activate some of those plug-ins.
