Wow, an eager one. :) You'll have to be at least a little patient. I believe Peter said a few months ago (was it in September? October?) it'll be some time. I'll let you know otherwise. Or not. He must be teaching a "I want an update/upgrade for no obvious reason" course at a community college. M |

He was hanging out over in the DirectX Plugins forum last week, offering to pay for a Noise Reduction 2.0b. Told him Sony would probably be quite happy to take his money, but the rest of us would download it for free. |

September was 4 months ago. That qualifies for a while in my book--let's bring it on!! On the one hand, I don't want them to rush a mega-buggy program to market, but on the other hand, I'm getting impatient too. I would settle for an ETA, so I could at least have an idea of when it is showing up. But I suppose that's subject to change 100 times too, so it would probably be impossible. Oh well, waiting can be half the fun. What am I saying?? Screw that--just bring it on!! :o) Peace. |

Ummm...ACID Pro 4.0 has ReWire too. (Both ReWire 1 and ReWire 2.) If you honestly want a guess from me, I'd say Fall. Remember, though, that's just a guess. I'm no insider at Sony. I just observe. And like I said, I'll be sure that if I hear anything... Mu... mu... muhahahahaha... :) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

LIVE is a rewire slave/host - ACID is only a host Thats what i meant.. :-) |

Oh, OK. :) Since Live is a ReWire slave and host, can't you use it within ACID? Or would you prefer it the other way around? (Does it matter?) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I forgot to mention, on a more serious note, to everyone that's waiting with bated breath for ACID 5.0: Do not be surprised and please do not cop an attitude if version 5.0 ends up being Windows XP/2000 only. Just about every new version of DAW software that's come out or is coming out from other companies is pretty much heading in that direction. SONAR 3, for example, is now XP/2000 only. Sound Forge 7.0 has also made that jump. I'm mentioning this because I (and others over in the Sound Forge forum) have heard enough grief over this issue. I'm just basically also warning those who might be disgruntled ahead of time because my patience has worn thin. I shoudn't have to tell anyone that if you concentrate for a specific platform, you end up with a better, stable and faster product. XP and 2000 are both based on Windows NT technology and are therefore superior to Windows 9x/Me in just about every regard. (They're not perfect in every way, but sure are a step closer.) To add, Microsoft plans on ending support for 9x/Me very soon. (Was it February? I can't remember and I'm too lazy right now to go look.) In short, you may want to upgrade your system if it can't handle XP or 2000 so as to possibly prepare for ACID 5.0 when it gets released. Yes you can use it in ACID as a rewire slave (Ableton) but why???? 2 looping instruments!!!!!???? I mean using ableton for audio and looping (or Acid 5?) and then use Logic/Cubase for MIDI Lets admit acid's MIDI is very poor,,, |

Well...what's wrong with using ACID for looping as it stands now? :) Poor is really a subjective term, since MIDI has to fit within ACID paradigm, not the other way around. ACID was never meant to be a true MIDI sequencer as, say, SONAR or Cuabse are. It's much like I would hope anyone looking to multitrack realizes that's not ACID's paradigm. (Vegas does that job dutifully.) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

hmmm...thats fine. Allready have XP pro...but I am having a 64 bit DAW monster built and it should be shipping soon. What about support for the latest 64 bit technology like a version of acid pro 64 bit edition or something? well, I can dream can't I? DJ_JC3 www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?AID=82175 |

Pro Tools is on WinXP exclusively too. I just hope that we won't have bad jokes like "No no, Acid Pro 5.0d will only works on Windows Longhorn" Cheers |
