What's the first step in creating a movie in 5.1?

Do a story board including the sound effects you want.

Are you using foley? Or just natural sound?
Place these on separate tracks. You then can "place them" in the
sound environment. What if any sound needs low frequency
punching? A door slamming in the background can be emphasised with
a subwoofer "puff" to get the audience's attention. Heartbeats made
with repeated subwoofer puffs can make a scary scene stand out.

hello have a look at www.in-deep.co.uk they have on line tutorials
for acid and vegas starting soon maybe they can help.
