"MSVCR70D.dll not found" at startup

Dale7 wrote on 12/2/2003, 11:18 AM
Every time I start Vegas, I get the message "this applic. has failed to start because MSVCR70D.dll was not found. Reinstalling the software may fix this problem."

I have reinstalled Vegas several times from the CD and also uninstalled and then re-installed the latest version from the website, but I still get this same message at startup. Strange thing is that it does start and runs fine AFAIK.

Any clues?

Do you have capture card with tuner? like ATI?.The Movie Maker(if you have a XP) could have some missing files.Try to capture something and see if it works.

I also have this problem under Windows XP Pro. This file is a part of the C runtime debug library. Vegas must have some reference to something in this file that wasn't removed when they did the release build. I searched the MSDN library and can't find a downloadable version of this file. Has anyone else had any luck in finding it?

All I know is that after install a software demo, I subsequently got this error.

I restored my drive partition, and all was OK.

A demo, in my case, caused this.

I had this problem after trying the premier pro demo and deinstalling it.

I had to reinstall prem pro and the dll was in the premier directory. I copied this to the Vegas directory uninstalled premier pro and all was OK.

Lesson learnt.

I ran into this same problem after I installed the demo of Photoshop CS and the demo of Premiere Pro. I searched Google and found an OCX control that includes the missing DLL as part of the download. Here it is:

That fixed the problem for me!

*THAT* was the demo I tried and got the same issue.

FYI, I had an extended dialogue with technical support re this issue; what finally solved it for me was that they posted a link to where I could download the missing file.

This is the text of the last message they sent me re this issue:

"Attached to this incident is a file labeled msvcr70d.zip. Please unzip this file with a program such as WinZip or Stuffit Expander and place it in the /windows/system32 directory."

Since the problem was solved, the incident was closed and I can no longer access the link, or I would have posted it here.

We're zeroing in on this issue and should have the definitive solution tomorrow...we'll post here when we've verified everything.

Has anybody seen this exact problem with something OTHER than the demo/trial version of Premiere Pro?
rwbryant wrote on 1/12/2004, 5:59 PM
I have installed the thirty day trial version Premiere Pro and am seering the problem. I don't understand why it should have anything to do with Vegas unless it changes one of the drivers when it installs.

I was just wondering if Sony had found the solution to the problem yet?
SonyIMC wrote on 1/15/2004, 8:58 AM
We have found the culprit to this issue: Adobe Premiere Trial is installing a debug version of their ASIO driver and registering it with the system as an audio driver. We fail to find the associated file since we do not ship with it and so result in error.

To remedy:

Either unistall Premire Pro Trial or move the file MSVCR70D.dll from Premire's installation folder to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

We are in the process of notifing Adobe about this issue.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. MSVCR70D.dll is a debug version file. Should be MSVCR70.dll for the release version.
