I have several sound files that I have previously recorded. When I try to work on any of these files and then attempt to save the file nothing gets saved. It looks like my work has been saved. I'm asked if I want to save the file and so on. However when I open the file, it the same old file, not one I just saved. Do I have to use a different file name? |

When you make any changes to a file, Sound Forge should note that a change has been made in the file by showing an asterisk (*) beside the file's title in the title bar. When you save, the asterisk should disappear. Does that happen with you? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I assume you are working with a complete version. (Is there some form of trial version that will not save?) |

Does it do this with all changes or just with certain plug-ins? Greg |

I figured this on out. I was saving my work as wav. files. However I was using a Scott Studios Wave file Plug-in. When I tried to save, I would get a request asking if I wanted to launch the associated file player. I would say "Yes" and then would be told that I had no associated file player for this type of file and no save would occur. Well I had allready assosicated "Winamp" as the .wav frle playerand that association worked fine on all saved .wav files. I simply began saving all new files simply as Microsoft Wave files and any subsequent file saves are recorded with no problems. Thank you for you assistance with this "so simple I should have figured this out a long time ago" problem. |

Saving as a Scott Studios wave file always uses a name that the software generates rather than your own name. Since the newly saved version was given this generated name, your original file was never touched. |

OK. Then what is the difference in the Windows .wav and the Scott Studios wave files? Is one better than the other? |

Scott Studios .wav includes metadata specific to some broadcast setups, and follows a particular naming scheme, as you found. Audio-wise, it is identical to Microsoft .wav. J. |
