Subject:configuring SF for diital recording

I have a yamaha o1V mixer and a maudio 2496 sound card

Iam wanting to use the coaxiel sp/dif in/out of the mixer linked to my soundcard and record digitally into SF and onto a hard disk.

The record option in SF has is the options of bit rates and sample frequancy i know how these relate to an A/D conversion but not with a digital transfer, do i need these to match that of the mixers output or can i increase the sample frequancy and gain a better quality recording?

Is this the best way of doing a digital recording or are there any other options within SF.

The ONLY way is to have the record settings the same as the signal being received. SF cannot 'improve' the received data in any way, or improve the original recording quality.

*Some* digital interface drivers may implement their own sample-rate conversion on-the-fly, and wordlength reduction, but none of this would improve anything.
