Hi all, I am a video guy and very comfortable with Vegas so I bought 5 loops CDs and Screenblast today to try to put together some music beds (I'll probably eventually buy Pro, but for now...) First of all let me say I was using Sonar for MIDI and dabbling in loop construction but even just Screenblast blows me away with it's ease of use and convenient pitch change. In fact in just a couple of hours farting around with it I came up with some very useful material. Only one problem, all of a sudden certain clips started to distort (even though my master volume is showing peaks at about -3db. Any thoughts? Oh while I'm at it, is there not a way to make the spacebar play/pause instead of play/stop...I didn't see it in prefs. TIA, Randy |

Hmmm, some how, fx (distortion) mysteriously got switched on those two tracks in fact when I saw it on one track I unchecked and went to the next track, unchecked that one and then the original one had rechecked itself...is this a known bug or something?...oh well anybody know about the space bar question? |

I can't see a place to switch the shortcut either, sorry. If you think it's a bug, you could report it via e-mail to tech support. A question for you now... Did you download this month's Get Media? Lots there for the taking! There were 12 loop packs from Westside Underground. Is it the same Get Media for Screenblast? M |

Hey M, I didn't think I knew anyone over here, thanks for the reply. >>Is it the same Get Media for Screenblast?<< I don't think so, I believe that's only with Pro (Screenblast only costs $70)...but I'm sure I'll be upgrading before long. The spacebar issue is a biggie for me though, very frustrating to try to stop at a specific place on the timeline and it jump back to where you started playback, are you saying Acid Pro doesn't have this feature (how hard could this be to implement when Vegas already has it)? Thanks M, Randy |

Randy, Screenblast does say it has Get Media in the product description. http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/Products/ShowProduct.asp?PID=854 Trust me, this is worth looking into! As far as the spacebar issue goes... You're right Vegas already has it. That's why I can't see why it wouldn't make it into Acid Pro 5.0. I'd wait before moving to Pro until 5.0 comes out. Then again, Pro 4.0 users should get a good deal on 5.0. <<< LOL! Guessing which is the best deal (wait for the launch, or gamble on an upgrade path) is kinda like being at the checkout at the grocery store...which line-up is going faster?? LOL! I must be getting tired! M PS: Just ordered my copy of DSE's book today!! Also ordered the Sound Forge 6 Power! book. Also ordered a meditation book, but that's besides the point. Cuz I REALLY DON'T THINK I NEED IT!! :) EDIT... D'oh! I rechecked and the PLAY/PAUSE shortcut is the ENTER key on the keyboard. At least it is in Pro. Check in Screenblast. Also, if you want to move slightly backwards or forwards, use the left/right arrow keys. |

>>Randy, Screenblast does say it has Get Media in the product description.<< Well I guess you were right M, I could have sworn I read somewhere that it was only available in Pro...THANKS! I do plan on waiting until Pro 5 to upgrade...however if my damned spacebar would pause I'd be real happy with Scrrenblast (at least for now). It just occured to me though, I do have Contour Shuttlepro, I suppose I'll go through the list of shortcuts and see if I can find something that will work as a pause (EDIT: found it..."Enter"). If not I guess I'll just keep squinting and trying to click that tiny pause button : ) I should probably get the Sound Forge book too since it seems I only use it for Noise Reduction 2. Is that another Scott Garrigus book? Thanks M, Randy |

Randy, we posted at the same time, reread my previous post. Yes, it's Scott's work. M |

I'm freaking out (on Acid...hee hee) over the simplicity of Acid. I just posted a little diddy over at Kelly Chien's site ( http://www.vegasusers.com/audshare/ ) of something that only took a couple of hours to throw together. Kelly should have it posted by tomorrow...check it out and as always, you're welcome to use it. Randy |

>>Is it the same Get Media for Screenblast?<< Well I went there and apparently it's a free service for Pro but they charge you if you have less...oh well, I ain't gonna subscribe so I'll just wait til I get Pro 5. Randy |

I'm not entirely familiar with Screenblast ACID 4.0, so the track FX thing may be a bug. Be sure to contact support and let them know. In Sound Forge 7.0, there's an option to "play/pause" with the spacebar instead of "play/stop" (which rewinds to where the cursor was). It woudn't surprise me to see it pop up in the next version of ACID. Remember to fill out the product suggestion form just to make sure your voice is heard. >>In Sound Forge 7.0, there's an option to "play/pause" with the spacebar instead<< Yes sir and also in Sound Forge 6 and Vegas, Sonic Foundry's / Sony's video app, which is why I'm surprised it's not there for all of their apps. It wouldn't be a big deal it's just such a habit for me to slap the spacebar whenever i hear or see something I don't like that I'm afraid I'm gonna break my damned keyboard when it doesn't respond after 2 or 3 hits : ) Anyway thanks for the link, I'll go suggest it right now.
