Hi! When I record midi in Acid 4.0, using my Audiophile 2496, the recorded midi tracks play back at 2-3 times the tempo i recorded them in. This problem only occurs under Win XP, not Win 98. Anyone had similar problems? |

Hello! I also have an Audiophile 2496 under Windows XP. I can record MIDI via VSTi's and they playback as I've recorded them. Are you using the latest supported versions of the Delta drivers? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Yes. I think I see the problem now, but I still don't know how to fix it. The midi-tracks are treated as loops, and automatically fit to the measure grid. |

?! That shouldn't happen. They should be recorded as MIDI tracks. When you use the "Record" dialog, for the "record type" (near the top), ensure that "MIDI" rather than "Audio" is selected. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I've tried just about everything. The problem only occurs with Win XP (Professional Edition) for some reason. I've done lots of midi-recording in Acid 4.0 using Win 98. This is really mysteries... |

Indeed. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ACID? What about the system itself? Has it been formatted at all? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling. I'm not sure what you mean by "Has it been formatted at all"... I've also reinstalled Win XP. Could it be a driver issue? |

Problem solved (I hope)! I've reinstalled Win XP and installed the newest bios and driver for my motherboard. I've also installed directx 9.0 (not 9.0b). I don't know why, but some of this obviously made the difference. |

VIA chipsets can be notorious for DAW setups. If you did a reinstall of Windows XP, it's possible something also went kablooey in your past installation. I suggested a format for your hard drive, wiping out any data so you can start clean. I should add this only be done if nothing else works and you have any essential documents/projects backed up first. It can be exhausting for the user who's never done it before. I'm having the same exact problem. i jus got a new PC...well used new PC but it has XP Home and it records the midi in a tempo that's way too fast. Win98 was fine for MIDI recording. Is the Direct X9 the answer? |

The chipset that a motherboard uses are multiple circuits designed for various functions vital to operating the computer system itself. DirectX 9 may help. It's worth a shot. You may also want to update your system's BIOS and any related drivers if possible like smygert did, but do this only if you know what you're doing (especially when flashing your BIOS). You can hose your system otherwise. Be sure to pick up the latest build of ACID Pro 4.0 if you haven't done so already. The latest build is 4.0f Build 446. You can find out which build you have by going to Help>About ACID Pro on ACID's menu bar. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
