After I start to record it shows that I am recieving a signal and I can hear myself,
but when I hit stop it only recorded one measure. When I play it back it I hear
one whole note starting at the begining of the measure. Could it be that the step recording
feature is on? If so how do I turn it off?

Step recording is only available via the List Editor.

Are you sure you're recording more than what ACID says? Try erasing everything you see on the timeline and then, using the Paint Tool, hold down CTRL and click anywhere on the timeline. The event should then be painted in its entirety.

It plays the all the notes compiled together as chord on the first beat of every measure. There is another post on this form that pertains to increased tempo and xp. I am running the latest build of acid on xp professional.
If I switch to Home Edition will I still have this problem?
Also it was mentioned that updating the bios will fix it.
Any info on how to go about doing this would be most appreciated.

You will have to find out what the make and model of your motherboard is. If you got your system from a vendor like Dell, find out what make and model it is by consulting their Web site or by giving their tech support a call. (I can help track down if need be.)

If you had this system custom built, more than likely a manual came with the motherboard, which should also tell you what make and model the motherboard is.

Again, I will have to stress that updating your BIOS has its risks. For example, if you don't have an uninterruptible power supply (or UPS) and the power goes out while updating your system's BIOS, your system is essentially hosed. Be sure you've got the support where it counts if you need it.

I updated my bios and installed directx 9 and still no change.
I am almost ready to give up on getting acid to ever record midi.
I am going to format my drive and reinstall everything but with xp
home edition instead. This is a last attempt to get this to work.
I'll let you know how it goes.
