Hi There I just recently installed Screenblast Acid 4.0 and there is no option to save a file as a Windows Media Audio file. Everthing else seems to be there but no .wma. Have they stopped offering this as an option? Is there some trick to it? I have saved a .wma file in Acid 2.0 and uploaded it to Acidplanet but I can't figure out how to make it work in 4.0 Any help would be appreciated greatly. Alan Malmstrom |

Windows Media 9 support is indeed in Screenblast ACID 4.0. (Are you using File>Render As instead of Save As?) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Yes I am using the Render As option but I don't have a .wma file available. I have everything else like .rma .avi wav etc. Do you think it may be because I didn't have Windows Media Player installed at the time I installed the Acid 4.0? Alan |

I just checked Screenblast Acid 4.0 and indeed both .wma and .wmv are "Render" options on my system. You are probably correct that it only shows codecs you have loaded when you installed Screenblast. Rick |

The spec sheet or whatever for Acid 4.0 says it has support for Windows Media 9.0. The problem must be that I don't have 9.0 and it is not available for Windows 98 first edition. I can't even update to 9.0. I can only update to 7.0 This kind of thing is probably going to be the norm for the future. I took Windows XP off my computer because my scanner driver doesn't work with it. And all Microsoft does is make me awair that there is lots of new hardware available to be compatable with XP. I guess its good for the economy though. I can solve this problem by making a .wav file opening it in Acid 2.0 and exporting it as a .wma. But who knows how much longer those .wma files will still work in the latest upcoming versions of Windows Media Player. Alan |

Sin, if it makes you feel any better, I had to go check myself because I wasn't certain. :) beready: Check out this link. It has a link to download the Windows Media 9 series for Win 9x/Me/2000. Try that and let us know. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Yes mD Windows Media Player is available for Windows 98 SE. SE means second edition but I have First Edition. I wrote an email to Sony Support and got a responce saying that Acid 4.0 doesn't work for Win 98 First Edition. And I read the system requirements on the package and indeed you need Windows 98 SE. I didn't know that I only had First Edition when I purchased the software. I'll just have to install the software on my other computer which is slower and has a poor sound card but has Win XP installed. I can always save .wav files from Acid 2.0 on the fast system and put them in the shared files on my network and edit them on the XP computer. I ordered some memory for the slow computer today. Its not all that slow ist a 466 Mhz Celeraon with 100 Mhz side bus. I'll get a new computer someday. Thanks for the help. Alan |

Here's a full oem version of 98SE for $86 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3651000620&category=41884 There are also two copies listed for $1 but they're from Australia. I don't know how much international shipping would be. If you're willing to spend $86 + shipping for 98SE then you would probably be better off getting XP Home which often sells for about the same price. |

When I bought my Win98 computer, it was just before Win98SE was released. A couple months later, Microsoft offered a Win98SE update CD for $20, which I purchased and installed (requires an existing Win98 installation). Perhaps you could find one of these on eBay, they should be only a couple of dollars. A bit painful if you need to reinstall Windows (I know, I've had to do this twice), as you must install Win98 first before installing the SE update. |
