Subject:Sound Forge 7 interferes with MS PowerPoint

Background:
I create a lot of complex PowerPoint presentations, most contain a couple of video clips in mpg format.. A couple of weeks ago I suddenly started getting wierd error messages from Powerpoint, and many of my files would not load. After struggling with this problem for several days, I did a complete system restore from a Ghost backup and the problem went away and everything worked fine again.

However, the Ghost backup was a couple months old, so it put me back to running Soundforge 6.0. So I installed Soundforge 7.0 -- and the Powerpoint problem came back !!! I downloaded the latest Soundforge update (7.0a build 262) but still had the same problem.

I un-installed Soundforge 7 and re-installed Soundforge 6.0e and the problem went away. I have confirmed this behavior on 2 different computers -- one computer running Windows 2000 and one computer running Windows XP professional. Both computers running Microsoft Office 2000.

I can't explain it, but it''s real. Somehow, Soundforge 7.0 causes problems for any Powerpoint files that contain .mpg video clips..

Fortunately, Soundforge 6 is quite good and does what I need, but this is very disappointing since I now have a copy of Soundforge 7 sitting here that I apparently can't use.

El Heffe,

Please see the following Knowledge Base entry for instructions on correcting this issue. I shouldn't take more than a few minutes of your time.

Hope this helps!
