Is it possible to clone the left channel onto the right channel on the Acid program? i was doing some recording with my guitar plugged straight into the computer and it only recorded to the left channel. It sounds really good so I'd like to clone it to the right side if possible. When I play it back it only plays in the left speaker.

Hmm. How are you setup, hardware-wise? What are you using to input your guitar into your system? (And what's your soundcard?)

I was running the guitat straight into the computer. I'm not sure what kind of soundcard I have. I have XP and its a Compaq 2600. All I want to do is clone the left channel so I have the same thing in both channels. When I plug into the computer it only records the left channel and I want to save the tracks I have.

Take a look at the plug (from your guitar setup) going into the soundcard.

Does it have just one stripe going across its tip? If so, that's why it's only recording one channel. You'd need a plug that has two stripes going across, which would let you record stereo.

Note that unless you're using effects that do stereo, you're going to end up with the same signal in both the left and right channels.

If you record mono tracks (tracks with only one waveform), the track should actually be distributed to both left and right channels during playback.

Hi Iacobus,

That helps me. I've had the same problem, but I thought my mini plug was stereo. What I did was to duplicate the track and pan the tracks 100% left and right. Seems like I wasted the file size and CPU usage, huh? If on playback they come out of both speakers equally. Hmm. I can't recall if that's what was happening. WIll try it.

You're most of the way there - after you duplicate the track and pan them to each side, bounce them down to one stereo track and delete the two mono tracks.

Why not just record in mono? Just select it on the record pop-up box. Why would you want a stereo version of a mono signal? It just akes up more hard drive space.
